Donelson, TN, August 3, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Jason DeFord, known to the world as Jelly Roll, recently stopped his concert to help find a chair for a cancer survivor.
The 39-year-old rapper-turned-country star paused his music during a performance at the Tailgate N' Tallboys Festival in Columbia, Tenn. When he spotted a woman in the audience holding a sign that read, "Cancer survivor needs a chair."
Jelly Roll jumped off the stage and approached the woman. He asked her if she would like to come up on stage and sit in his chair. The woman hesitated at first but eventually accepted.
Jelly Roll then told the crowd that the woman was a cancer survivor and asked them to give her a round of applause. The crowd erupted in cheers.
The woman sat in Jelly Roll's chair for the rest of the concert. She was visibly moved by the gesture, and Jelly Roll's fans were touched by his compassion.
In an interview after the concert, Jelly Roll said that he was happy to help the woman.
